Choosing a curtain

Although the curtain is usually chosen last, it is a very important choice, since it is what will bring out the best in a space. We should consider whether we want the curtain to play a purely decorative role, or whether it will also provide privacy and keep out not only prying eyes but also sunlight.
If the room faces west, you will need fabrics that reduce direct sunlight and heat during the midday hours. This way you will feel more comfortable in the room and save energy, especially in the summer.

If the room faces east, the sun comes in during the morning hours, and if you choose a sheer curtain the room will be bright even in winter. In summer, when the sun is stronger, you can combine sheer or semi-sheer curtains with a heavier outer layer.

If the room faces north, there is less sunlight, so you should choose almost sheer curtains that let the light into the room.
